Thanks to Claire and the Class

I wanted to thank Claire, Swinburne and the class for the last few months!  I am now a definite convert - I love social media!!  My kids (teenagers) are amazed and very impressed!  I think I'm addicted to Facebook though!

So, thank you one and all, it's been entertaining and fun.  Take care and good luck for the future.

It's Time for the Disaster Cloud to Move On!!!

Do you ever feel like the "Disaster Cloud" is hovering over your normally peaceful and safe existence???   I think that nasty little cloud is following us around - our gorgeous girl had a car accident today - everybody is okay - shaken but okay, thank goodness.  As for "Carol" the Corolla, unfortunately she is heading for the car yard in the sky!

Life is so precious and its a times like these that you realise what's important.  "Things" can be fixed or replaced but people are irreplaceable.

Seriously, I knew we should've locked them in their rooms when they were still manageable!!!  And yes, that's a room full of cotton wool.....!

She's Growing Up.....and I'm Not Ready.

How do I tell my little girl that I'm not ready for her be 19 yrs old and about to travel overseas for 3 months.  How do I tell her that I'll miss her.

What happened to the last 19 years?  I still remember when she was born - so tiny and cute!  And now she's a young woman about to embark on a trip of a lifetime.  No longer tiny but still cute.

I remember my mum telling me that the most important thing you can give your children is independence.  I don't remember her telling me that when I succeed it would hurt just a little bit.

I'm so proud of the young woman she has become but to me she will always be my little girl!

Today at the Footy!

We've not long been home after spending the day out watching our son play footy (AFL Div 1).  He's only seventeen and is already under contract with a local club - very proud of him.

AFL is his passion and he puts 110% into everything to do with it!!  Only wish he'd do the same for his school work!!!

As parents we have spent many Saturdays sitting in the cold supporting him and love every minute. He would love to play for Collingwood - and yes, we are supporters!!  Black and white blood running in our veins!  Mind you, being picked up by any club would be sensational.

We can only hope.....!

Dawn Service - Canberra

Just got home from the Dawn Service in Canberra where 120,000 people turned out to pay tribute to serving, both past and present, men and women.  That means that weren't too many people still at home.  What a wonderful turnout.

We drove in last night and slept in the car until 0330h when we walked to the Australian War Memorial where all the seating was already filled. People just kept coming and coming.

Miss you Dad all the time, but especially today.

Lest we forget.

Well, it's happened......

We knew it was coming but prayed it wouldn't........yes, you guessed, our teenage son got caught speeding and lost his licence!  He's only had his licence for 6 months - long enough for all of us to get used to his independence but not long enough for him to develop any sense!!  His father and I are both ex traffic police....we tried to get through to him clearly to no avail.

It's a hard lesson to learn but one that he obviously needed to learn.  The silver lining in all this is that now perhaps we'll be spared the visit to the hospital or worse.  With any luck this will wake him up a bit and he'll realise he's not bullet proof. Too many kids become statistics, a fact we know only too well.

Living with teenagers certainly has its challenges!

Anzac Day

Making plans to get to the Dawn Service. Grandpa was at Gallipoli, Dad fought in WWII and hubby was in the Navy. I miss my dad all the time but especially on Anzac Day.  Thank you to all those that have served and continue to serve this proud nation.  Lest we forget.
